Use Of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools Policy

The International Journal of Educational Administration and Leadership: Theory and Practice (IJEDAL) recognizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI technologies may support various aspects of scholarly work. The journal permits the responsible and transparent use of AI tools, provided that such use complies with established standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and academic accountability.

Authors must disclose the use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grammarly, DeepL, or similar technologies) whenever they have contributed to the preparation of a manuscript. The disclosure should specify:

  • The name of the AI tool used;

  • The purpose for which it was used;

  • The stage of the research or manuscript preparation process in which it was used;

  • The extent of its contribution to the final manuscript.

AI tools may be used for purposes such as language editing, proofreading, translation, coding assistance, data organization, literature mapping, visualization support, and similar scholarly activities. Any use that has materially influenced the content of the manuscript must be disclosed.

AI systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires intellectual responsibility, accountability, and the ability to respond to questions regarding the work, which can only be fulfilled by human authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of all submitted content, regardless of whether AI tools were used during its preparation.

The use of AI technologies for plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, generation of fictitious references, manipulation of research findings, peer review interference, or any other form of research misconduct is strictly prohibited and may result in rejection, retraction, or other editorial actions.

Editors and reviewers must ensure that the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts is protected and should not upload confidential manuscript content to public AI systems.

IJEDAL follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in scholarly publishing.
